Roofing

OBR Construction has undertaken many school roofing projects over our years of trading, in fact it is our busiest time of year when the school summer holidays start and the race against the weather begins to complete the projects before the pupils return.

For this project in Porthmadog, it offered us an excellent opportunity to make use of new technology that allowed us to apply the membrane a a much greater quantity than traditional methods. A 110v powered roller applicator increased our daily coverage from 250m2 a day to excess of 1,000m2 a day. This proved to be invaluable for this large project and perfect for the open, detail free roof.

Having being one of the first contractors Sika approached to test the applicator during its prototype and development phase, we had the experience necessary to use the new technology once available.

This project required insulation boards to be mechanically fixed using rivet peel stops fixings as the deck was a wood-wool slab, which was a time intensive process. Having the membrane accelerated allowed us to complete areas that would not be possible during the 6 weeks of summer holidays otherwise. The photo above shower the Red base coat of the membrane being installed.
